Charlie has been resting and growing for the past week or so, but he took a big step yesterday: He is on a nasal cannula with the wall oxygen! This oxygen is different than the high flow he had before and he could potentially go home on this type of oxygen. He has been doing very well so far with no signs of breathing difficulty, and he seems much happier to not have all the CPAP machinery on his face and so are we! We love seeing his chubby cheeks and face again!
Today was a very special day as well. For the first time, mom got to feed Charlie a bottle! He hasn't been able to bottle feed due to his oxygen needs, but with this cannula, there isn't much pressure so he is able to try eating. He did so well, which wasn't that surprising since he loves his pacifier! He was smacking his lips because it was time for him to eat, mom put the bottle in his mouth and he started sucking like a pro. He started to look very sleepy after a minute or two, so mom adjusted him to burp him and he let out a big one! Then he was happy to try again but fell asleep shortly after. In total, he ate about 8 mLs and got the rest through his feeding tube. It wore him out but he did SO GOOD! We are so proud of our big guy!
Charlie is now 8lbs 10oz. He is enormous! We are so happy how well he is doing and how much he is growing. We truly are so lucky to watch this little miracle grow and thrive! If you can, please pray for Charlie's little lungs to keep growing and that he is able to stay on this wall oxygen. We cannot wait for him to come home, so hopefully he can handle being on the cannula and not have to backtrack to CPAP again. Either way, we are so proud of him and appreciate all your prayers! Thank you all and have a wonderful week!

He's got to be the biggest baby in the NICU! What a cutie. Praying to the great lung Dr....Jesus...who knows what he's going thru and is the Mighty Physician.
