Charlie is 14 weeks old today, weighing 4lbs 10oz! He is getting so big and handsome! He looks just like his brother. Within the past week, Charlie has had another blood transfusion (number 19), a few more eye exams, and got a mobile for his bed!

The ophthalmologists have been checking Charlie’s eyes regularly and are very impressed with how well his eyes responded to the injections. The day after he got them, the said he improved significantly; the best possible results! They have checked a few more times since then, saying he has improved each time. His eyes still have some maturing to do and they said he will most likely need laser eye surgery down the road, but not until after we bring him home. We are so happy and can’t thank you enough for your prayers!

Even with his eyes issues, Charlie loves to look at his mobile. He watched it for a while and followed it with his eyes. We love getting to see him explore his little world. He has quite the personality. He still doesn’t like things being in him, like his feeding tube or IV’s. He can maneuver his feeding tube out of his mouth with his tongue, which he does quite often now. He also pulled his IV out the other day during his transfusion, getting the donor blood all over the place. That was a sight to see! He thinks he’s in charge and is a very particular young man!

He has been eating more milk and tolerating it well! He is on a feeding schedule now instead of continuous feeds; hopefully preparing him for when he can try to eat for real! He gets a little less than one and a half ounces every three hours. No wonder he is getting so big!

We thank you all so much for your prayers and continuing on this road with us! We celebrate each small victory because it’s one step closer to bringing him home. We hope you all have a great week and God bless!

Sarah,

Charlie's pictures bring tears of joy every time I look through them! It is truly one of God's miracles to see how far your little man has come! When there is an obstacle in his way he always seems to rise above the challenge. I think God has great plans for Charlie Guenther! Terry continues to say that Charlie has a great guardian angel looking out for him just like he has his whole life. Thank you for taking time out of your very hectic schedule to keep us posted.

Love, Joani & Terry

P.S. He looks so adorable in his baby clothes!
