Today is a big day for Charlie! The doctors are pleased with his progress since his surgery and took him off the ventilator! He no longer has a breathing tube down his trachea, but he does have a CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) machine. He has a tiny mask that fits over his nose that gives him oxygen, but he is initiating all of his breaths! It’s just a trial for now; depending on how well he tolerates it, he could remain on the CPAP or have to be put back on the ventilator. Either way, today we are rejoicing in the small victories! He is the toughest baby around!
Charlie is slowly gaining weight as well! He is handling his milk very well and they have increased his amounts every day. Today, they increased it to 8mL every three hours and he gained 20 grams since yesterday. It is amazing to see God working in Charlie’s life; every small detail is a blessing!
We know things can change quickly with preemies and we will take things day by day. Today, we are very happy with how things are going and we are so proud of our little fighter! Thank you all for the prayers, and please pray that Charlie’s lungs continue to grow. Today was a very big step for Charlie and we pray he keeps progressing and proving how great our God is!

What a little figher i will continue to pray for your baby boy
Amazing progress! Our prayers continue.

Cannot believe how far he has come to be on CPAP...what a plateau! That God is an awesome God, indeed.
