Charlie is 10 days old today and he is having a great day! His stats have been stable and he is very cozy in his swaddle. Last night, Charlie’s nurse noticed that there was a crack in his arterial line and it was leaking blood. This is a temporary line placed at birth to allow them to draw blood and give nutrients. The nurses had to remove this line, the good news is they were going to be taking it out soon anyways, but like everything else, Charlie decided he didn’t want to wait. Without the arterial line to draw blood

samples, they now have to poke Charlie’s heel for a sample, so they are going to space out his blood tests as much as possible.

Charlie’s skin is still very fragile. Due to his prematurity he hasn’t developed all the layers of the skin yet; but his body knows he is out of the womb and will develop his skin faster (we can already see a slight improvement) Charlie’s eyes are still fused shut, but It looks like he’s trying really hard to open them; We can’t wait to see him looking back at us! We are so thankful for days like today! He is growing stronger every day and that brings us one step closer to being able to hold him, have Theo meet him, and eventually bringing him home. We are taking things day by day and trust that God has big plans for our little boy.
